What I Wore in Hong Kong | Leather Travel Outfits

THE HONG KONG EDIT

One Suitcase. A Very Full Week.

Six days of leather outfits from factory visits and buyer meetings to trade shows, fashion shows and cocktail hour.

I spent a week of very full days in Hong Kong with the Australian Fashion Council for CENTRESTAGE tradeshow. My days moved between factory visits, buyer meetings and trade-show floors, through to fashion shows, dinners and cocktails, often with very little time in between.

So I built my suitcase much like I build my wardrobe: around pieces I know work together, feel good for a long day and can take me wherever the day ends up.

Here’s what I actually wore and how I styled each piece.

What I Wore in Hong Kong

factory visits

Hong Kong humidity outside, serious air-con inside. I kept my base layers light and added the New Yorker Oversized Leather Jacket as the layer I could take on and off between fittings, sourcing leathers and working with our pattern makers and seamstresses.

TRADE SHOW DAY

Long hours on my feet meant comfort mattered. I wore the Sullivan Leather Short to show buyers how I think about leather in warmer climates - lightweight, easy and something you can dress up without feeling overdressed.

VIP BUYER LUNCH

I was invited to an exclusive lunch with a group of key buyers from China and Hong Kong, with interviews throughout the day. I wanted to feel polished but still like myself, and wear pieces that represented WEST 14TH ease of getting dressed.

CONSUL GENERAL RECEPTION

I’d been waiting for an excuse to wear the Park Avenue Pleat Skirt this way. For the Consul General’s reception, I wanted it to feel feminine and elevated, with a little help from my fellow female founders Maara Collective and X Nihilo to finish the look.

RUNWAY NIGHT

We were invited to see a group of Korean designers runway show whose collections were a beautiful study in quiet luxury and craft. My lightweight leather felt completely at home, polished enough for the evening, without needing a separate ‘event’ outfit.

TRADE SHOW TO COCKTAILS

One of those days when there was no going back to the hotel to change. I needed an outfit that could take me through buyer meetings and the trade show, then straight into socialising that evening.

Finally Bought My First West 14th Jacket — And I’m in Love

I’ve followed West 14th for years and honestly don’t know why it took me this long to buy my first jacket. It is absolutely amazing — the colour, the feel, and the fit are all perfect.

I have to admit, seeing it zipped up online didn’t initially appeal to me. But when I saw it styled open on Instagram, it completely changed my perspective and I was sold. Now I love wearing it both open and zipped up — it’s incredibly versatile.

Lovely warm 'edgy' jacket!

Lovely warm jacket. The wool back and front makes this jacket so cosy. This is my third purchase from West 14th and love them all. My first was my amazing Paddington jacket and I've worn it and worn it. I was lucky enough to get the second and third purchases on sale. They are both excellent too. Excellent customer service always. Great store to deal with.
